A contemporary garden design in Stoke Bishop, Bristol, creating a series of connected garden rooms within the setting of a suburban cottage.
Project Brief
The brief called for a garden that would support outdoor dining and everyday use. A water feature was to be incorporated alongside the terrace, introducing sound and visual movement, with space for planting to provide seasonal interest.
Design Approach
The angled front door threshold establishes the organising structure for the design, defining a sequence of connected garden rooms that guide movement through the entire garden. Dining is positioned close to the house, with a water feature beside the terrace introducing sound and visual movement.
Ornamental multi-stem trees, shrubs and perennial planting enclose the seating area, creating privacy and seasonal interest.
Views are framed from the house and back towards the nineteenth-century Jacobean building.
