Project Brief
The brief called for a garden that would support outdoor dining and everyday use. A water feature was to be incorporated to enhance the atmosphere of the terrace, alongside space for planting with seasonal interest.
The clients favoured architectural planting and a restrained palette, avoiding strong colours and high-maintenance schemes.
Design Approach
The garden is organised as a series of connected rooms, shaping movement through the space. Dining is positioned close to the house, where the sound of running water enhances the atmosphere of the terrace.
Ornamental multi-stem trees, shrubs and perennial planting surround the seating area, creating a sense of enclosure. Planting provides seasonal variation within a restrained and consistent framework.
Pathways connect the spaces, guiding movement through the garden. Views are framed both from the house and back towards the nineteenth-century Jacobean building.
