A contemporary garden design in Stoke Bishop, Bristol, creating a series of connected garden rooms to the front of a suburban cottage.View garden design services.

Project Brief​

The brief called for a garden that would support outdoor dining and everyday use. A water feature was to be incorporated to enhance the atmosphere of the terrace, alongside space for planting with seasonal interest.

​Design Approach

The angled front door threshold establishes the organising structure for the design, defining a sequence of connected garden rooms that guide movement through the entire garden. Dining is positioned close to the house, with a water feature beside the terrace introducing sound and visual movement.​

​

Ornamental multi-stem trees, shrubs and perennial planting enclose the seating area, creating privacy and seasonal interest.

​

Pathways connect the spaces, guiding movement through the garden. Views are framed from the house and back towards the nineteenth-century Jacobean building.
